U11's win Friendly at Heaton Mersey

With storms and rain forecast all around Manchester, the U11's braved the elements and the M60 to travel to Heaton Mersey CC for a friendly. What followed was a wonderful evening of festive and fun cricket for all the boys. In a game that was played with a tremendous amount of sportmanship and camaraderie, Brooklands put on an excellent score of 299. Arjan Dhillon, Otis Dolphin, Luke Clarke and Max Jefferson being the pick of the batsman.

Heaton Mersey then batted superbly well but were resricted to 289 due to some outstanding bowling from all of them, notably Max Mitchell and Piyush Kumar who both picked up 3 wickets. With only 9 players, we were in need of a substitute fielder and on stepped Piyush's younger brother (5 yrs old) to field at 3rd man. Arush promptly fielded the ball on several occasions to rousing applause from the watching spectators. This summed up a game that was played in great spirit and one which encapsulates why we all play and love the game.
