The first XI picked up all 25pts this weekend with a 104 run win away to Northwich in the CCCL First XI Division 2.
Returning skipper AJ Hart finally won a toss and decided to have a bat. Openers Chris Hart and Jack Bagshaw made a solid start before Hart fell for 13. Kevin Carroll continued his good form from last week, smashing 43 off just 25 balls before he was run out.
Bagshaw quickly followed for 38 and Dave Madden was dismissed for 24 but the innings belonged to AJ Hart who, coming in at number 5, piled on an excellent 119 not out off just 62 balls. Hart tested out the Northwich boundary rope with a mammoth 16 fours and 4 sixes.
Alex Edwards provided excellent backup for Hart as he hit his first half century of the season finishing on 51 not out.
Chasing 292, the home side were never really at the races and as much as the first innings was dominated by Hart, the second innings was dominated by Rob Leach.
The Northwich openers started off steadily with Luke Tapsfield hitting 42 before he was removed by Leach. Leach then proceeded to rip through the rest of the top order on his way to a season best 6-56 off 11 overs.
Lee Evans (I’m fairly sure it’s not that Lee Evans) provided some fightback with 38 before his was trapped lbw off of a rare Christian Hart over.
The home side never really looked like mounting a genuine attempt to chase down the total set for them and as the 48th over approached they were all out for 188.
