The format will be as follows:
• 9:30am meet with first match at 10am.
• 2 or 3 groups of teams playing c.3 games each (this will be finalised when numbers of teams are confirmed) we just need 1 team
• We expect the games to finish around 12:15 in order that we can set the pitch up for the Womens game in the afternoon.
• The groups will be split based on age/ability in order than we can get some evenly balanced game.
• The rules will be broadly as per the league games however we may tweak the number of overs and some of the rules to fit with timings and available space. We will suggest 8 a side but each team can bring bigger squads as they wish. Players can be loaned to other teams for any club with low numbers on the day.
• The emphasis will be on fun with us fitting in as many games as possible.
This event is part of our 3rd annual celebration of girls and womens cricket at Georgians, known as our This Girl Can Day. Later in the day we will have a BBQ, music and our Womens team will be taking on Leigh in a League match at 1:30pm. Everyone is welcome to stay around and enjoy the day.
In the morning, there will be teas, coffees and breakfast butties available to purchase and hope to have a few special guests around too as well as some merchandise/freebies. The bar will also be open from 11am.
At the completion of the games, we will invite all teams to short presentation ceremony to collect a trophy per team and a few
certificates for coaches to hand out to a couple of players in each team. Every team will get a trophy and they will be awarded for best demonstrations of crickets core values (Fair Play, Respect, Teamwork, Fun and Enjoyment.) rather than focus on winning/losing. To cover the costs of certificates, trophies and engravings we are looking for a contribution of £10 per team. I trust that will be OK.
