Cheadle Dum, Cheadle Dee
Paul Garnett 42 highlight of the day.
The Second XI failed to turn over a struggling Cheadle team at The BCG, falling short in the run chase by 58 runs.
Fielding first, Sam Higgins (1-19 off 6) took the early wicket of opener Adam Dooler but Cheadle were able to regroup with other opener Joe Blood hitting 31 before he was bowled by George Jones and Charlie Mitchell making a half century before being caught of the bowling of George Foreman (1-41 off 10).
Cameron Buchan (1-42 off 8) sparked a mini revival by taking the wicket of Cheadle Skipper Aaron Wall for 1 and after Moin Shah was run out it was game on.
Hamza Rais (34), Alex Read (22) and Nick Reid (14*) pushed on for the visitors and with Jones picking up the wickets of Rais and Rodgers, Cheadle finished on 192-7 off their 50 overs.
Chasing 193 for the victory, the home team lost george storrow, George Jones and Doug Whyley cheaply leaving Tom Khares (22) and the in-form Paul Garnett (42) to mount a comeback.
Mark Bloomfield managed 15 before he joined the long list of Brooklands batsman (8 of them) who holed out in the field.
A quick-fire 31 from Sam Higgins wasn’t enough to help the home side get near the total set for them and after Buchan and Geetala fell for 1 run each the hosts finished on 134 all out from 41.2 overs.
