A dismal day delivered a disappointing result as the 2s went down at home to Warrington CC. The Bears won the toss and skipper Alan Millington chose to field before the weather got any worse.
Warrington got off to a slow but solid start. Simon Swain fell to a finger tip catch by Paul Garnett off the bowling of Joe Gill (1-30 off 8) for just 15 but fellow opener Harley Barratt (65) and James Lewis (59) steadied the ship before the pair were removed by Cameron Buchan (2-29 off 5) and Alan Millington (2-39 off 8) respectively.
A quickfire 22 from Isaac Webster helped get the visitors to 193-5 off of their 50 overs and as the players were inside for tea, the drizzle started.
After a brief delay, Brooklands got their innings started. Richard Palmer departed early. Fellow opener Nick Little hung around and was eventually removed for 17 off the bowling of Simon Hewitt (3-31 off 11).
Unfortunately, as the drizzle came and went, so did the home sides batsman. None of the hosts remaining batsmen managed to get settled in difficult conditions and were bowled out in the 26th over for just 56.
The 2s will look to improve next Saturday as they are away to bottom of the league Stockport.
