The second XI pulled off a convincing win away to Grappenhall second XI. Skipper Alan Millington won the toss and chose to put the home side into bat first. Rob Leach (2-48 off 12) and Joe Gill (1-17 off 6) made early breakthroughs for the visitors but the hosts were able to regroup with some solid middle order performances.
Jack Critchley (36) and Arthur Pennington (35) were both removed by Millington (2-58 off 12) before youngster Cameron Buchan joined the party picking up a quickfire 4fer and removing the majority of the tail end in his spell of 4-33 off 7.
At the turnaround, the visitors required 181 to win.
An early scare was put to bed by opener George Storrow and Aidan Khares who provided 114 of the runs required for victory. Storrow continued his good form by hitting an impressive 62. Khares celebrated returning to the team with a flowing half century.
George Foreman (17*) and Si Lee (7*) saw The Bears over the line for the victory in just over 43 overs.
Skipper Millington commented: "This was a real team effort with contributions from everyone. The young lads were superb with the ball, most notably Buchan who goes from strength to strength. Storrow was excellent once again and it was Khares' finest innings."
