Oxton won the toss and put the 2s into bat to begin this one. Youngster James 'Hugo' Hugall opened with veteran george storrow and bravely faced the first ball. Hugall unfortunately departed early without troubling the scorers bringing in Richard Palmer to build the Brooklands innings.
A quickfire 17 followed from Palmer before he was trapped lbw by Knowles (2-20 off 10) leaving the job squarely on Storrows shoulders. Partners at the other end come and went thick and fast. A few starts were made and Si Lee (17) supported Storrow before he was also pegged lbw, this time by Tom Pearson (6-39 off 14.2). The tail failed to wag and the away side finished 139 all out from 47.2 overs. Storrow eventually finishing on a well fought 58.
Defending their total, Brooklands looked to their opening bowler, Tom Mitchell and boy did he not disappoint. After already seeing off one of the Oxton openers, Mitchell spectacularly steamrolled the remainder of the top order, including Oxton captain Ian Gauntlett, in 4 consecutive balls to leave the home side reeling. Youngsters Joe Gill and George Foreman then joined the party picking up the next two wickets cheaply.
By the time Jack Breheny came to the crease, Oxton still had work to do to reach the target set for them and it took a steady innings from Breheny (26*) to assist stubborn opener Christopher Cashin (75*) over the line by 3 wickets.
Tom Mitchell finished with impressive figures of 5-41 off 15 with George Foreman (1-13 off 4) and Joe Gill (1-18 off 5) looking like promising additions to the second XI this year.
